Which Platform Should You Use to Build Your Email List

Here’s a bit of advice from someone who’s used almost EVERYTHING (except Infusionsoft). I’ve worked with Mailchimp, Aweber, ConstantContact, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, GetResponse, and Ontraport.

The thing is, I see this question over and over and over and over. Which is better and which AutoResponder should I use to build my list?

Mailchimp is amazing if you want pretty newsletters. There is no better visual builder out there (in my opinion). It’s also the most well-known, so it integrates with everything… However, it is slow, requires double opt-in (which can be annoying for your prospects), doesn’t have as good an open rate, and you will eventually need to move to another autoResponder as you grow.  However, if you don’t want to start paying for autoresponders yet, go ahead and give MailChimp a shot, it is a great first step as an email marketing tool.

Price – FREE / $10p/m / $199p/m

Mobile App – YAY!
ConvertKit is by far the easier of the two when it comes to content upgrades, easy automation, and super easy forms and pop ups.

Price –  $29p/m (0-1K)/ $49p/m (1K-3K) / $79 (3K-5K)

Mobile App – YAY!

ActiveCampaign is going to be more robust in the marketing automation department, especially if you do e-commerce.  It allows tagging and advanced sequencing that allows your emails to be much more personalised.

Price – FREE / $10p/m / $15p/m

Mobile App – NAY, not yet (…hello ActiveCampaign team ?)

Aweber? Well that’s just another story. I’ve gone back to Aweber twice and it just doesn’t get any better. It can be very frustrating when it comes to creating any ‘if-then” sales funnels of any kind. Even something as simple as a ‘if they buy this product, move them to this list’, can be quite complicated. The good thing is that they are improving this, with their ‘campaigns’ feature and other features coming to play makes it a god one to invest in.  Price is based on your list size. They do however have a 30 Day FREE trial.

Price – 30 Days FREE trial / $19p/m (0-500) / $29p/m (501-2,500) / $49p/m (2,501-5,000)

Mobile App – YAY

ConstantContact is wonderful if you’re a fan of HTML or graphical emails. If you already have a list then this is an option to consider.r marketers who have lists in the hundreds, thousands or low to mid tens of thousands.

Price – $15p/m (0-500)/ $30p/m (501-2,500) / $45p/m (2,501-5,000) Price is based on your list size. They have a 60 Day FREE trial.

✔ GetResponse is a good option as not only can you build your list you can also create landing pages and webinars.  It’s a solid autoresponder good for small businesses.

Price -30 Days FREE trial/ $10p/m / $32p/m

Mobile App – YAY

My conclusion:
Just bite the bullet and go for ConvertKit or ActiveCampaign…
Or if you’re financially ready for it, go for Ontraport or Infusionsoft.
