Setting New Year Resolutions Doesn’t Work… [PART ONE]

A lot of people start the new year with so many goals, dreams and amazing things they want to do. Then as the year goes by, the New Year’s resolutions that they set become a distant memory.

The goal to lose weight goes straight out the window with the juicy slice of cake appears.

The questions become WHY does this happen, not just to you but to 98% of the population?  There’s a simple answer…mindset!  You have to develop your mindset, if you are to achieve things that are either outside your comfort zone.  There are things that you have to do each and everyday to ensure that your mind is programmed for success and not failure.  Below is a list of things that you must to to ensure the development of your mind.

What Do You Listen To Every Day?

Listen to positive and inspirational audio and videos.  Stop watching nonsense on TV and listening to negativity.  Remember, what you hear, you think and what you think you become.

We become what we think about.
All of us are self-made, but only the successful will admit it.
In order to be successful you must be willing to do the things today that others won’t do, in order to have the things tomorrow that others won’t have.

You have to make a conscious choice to expose your mind to positive audios and videos.  This will distract the negative conversations that you have with yourself which stops you from succeeding.

James Allen said it so well in his book…

“As a man thinketh so is he continues to think, so he remains”

 

Study! Study! Study!

We’ve all heard this before and it is more important than you think.  reading positive writings- www.drummondcoaching.comReading something positive of negative programs your mind.  Whether it’s a newspaper, a magazine or a book, either way you are programming your mind.  so why not program your mind for success.

Reading positive books, with emotion will embed it into your subconscious mind faster that reading it with no emotion.  Hence, when we were read to as children we enjoyed the story more if someone read with expression.  It is the emotion in that expression that enabled us to resonate with the story better.

Read at least 10-15 pages of something positive every single day.  Why should you?  You have goals and dreams to achieve…reading will change your thinking.  Remember, it’s your current thinking that has brought you to where you are right now, but it won’t be the same thinking that will get you out.  If you desire change, start by changing what you read each day.Do this for 90 days and you can be sure that your life will change.

 

Who Should You Count On and Who Should You Count Out?

This is a hard one, many people are bound to others by some sort of guilt.  And because of this they surround themselves with negative people who drain the life out of them.  Take a look at the people around you…

If they are negative, the likelihood is that so are you.

If they they have poor money management, they likelihood is that so do you.

If they are complainers, then so are you.

As the old saying goes…

Birds of a feather flock together

Upgrading your relationships is imperative.  Surround yourself with people who will challenge you to be who you want to become.  Ensure that you are taking advice from people who are where you want to be.  Choose wisely because this is your LIFE!

Do You Have You Goal In Writing?

The reason why you have not been able to this point to achieve your goals can be that they have them stuck up in your head and not on paper, which can lead to people feeling overwhelmed and feeling disorganised.

Write your goals down on paper and read them everyday.  Make sure that you have your yearly goal is broken up into, monthly weekly and daily.  Write your daily goals and as you do them tick them off.  Once you’ve done your daily goals, celebrate.  This will send a message to your brain that you are an achiever, so each time you set goal, your mind will find ways to make it happen.

Note that the most productive business owners and entrepreneurs know the power of focus and organisation, which means getting one thing done at a time and not letting all those other brilliant ideas you come up with get in the way. (They are awesome, but you need to practice finishing one thing at a time before starting on the next one having your goal in writing helps you stay focused).
